Wow!

Both of our girls had a great final night at the Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. The pageant was a three-day event held at University of LA at Monroe.

The preliminaries and finals were a resounding success, filling ULM’s Brown Auditorium with cheers, tears, and smiles! Best of all, no matter how each contestant fared in the final standings, they all walk away with great experiences, the opportunity to perform on stage, enhance their public speaking skills and interview skills, tune-up their bodies for the Fitness competition, and look absolutely stunning in the dress of their dreams.

Congratulations to all the participants!

So the big question is…drum roll, please…how did our titleholders fare at the Miss LA’s Outstanding Teen Pageant? Well, we couldn’t be more proud.

First, let’s talk about Valerie Thomas, Miss Spirit of Ruston’s Outstanding Teen. Not only did she capture a Non-Finalist Talent Award (giving her the opportunity to perform her talent during the finals), she was also voted by her co-contestants as Miss Congeniality.

That tells you something about her. She’s a genuine girl who’s talented and beautiful, too!

Our organization was also represented by Courtney Hammons, Miss Dixie Gem Peach’s Outstanding Teen. Courtney was awarded the Preliminary Talent award during the afternoon preliminary on Friday and then came back for more with a Preliminary Fitness award that evening! Wow! Read more here.

She finished her 2013 Miss LA Outstanding Teen experience on Saturday night with a selection as a Top 12 finalist. She kept the good luck flowing with a Top 5 spot as well! We were so proud that she was named 3rd Runner-Up.

Both Valerie and Courtney have done a wonderful job representing our organization.

But no matter how they fare at the Miss LA Outstanding Teen pageant, we are proud of the young women they are becoming. They are talented. They are smart. They are improving themselves day-by-day and discovering their destiny.

We are thankful to be one step in their journey.

Congratulations girls!
